On the left bank of the Chishui River, inside Langjiu Manor, earthen jars stand in silence and caves lie deep in shadow. Out of that depth comes a sauce-aroma baijiu in a blue-and-white porcelain bottle: Qinghualang, Langjiu's flagship.

At Erlang Town, Gulin County, Sichuan, the Chishui River passes by β€” Langjiu's home on the left bank, facing Moutai Town across the water. Langjiu's story begins in 1898 with the Huichuan distillery; over more than 120 years it grew into an unignorable name on the Chishui sauce-aroma corridor, once marketed as "one of China's two great sauce-aroma baijius."

Today Langjiu tells a tighter, more confident story: "Left bank of the Chishui β€” estate sauce aroma." And the finest expression of that sentence is Qinghualang.

1. Left bank and right bank: twin stars of sauce aroma

Erlang Town and Moutai Town face each other across the Chishui, sharing the same purple soil, the same warm humid valley and the same fermenting microbes β€” yet each has its own voice. The right bank gave the world "national liquor" Moutai; the left bank built an estate: Langjiu Manor.

Connoisseurs describe Langjiu's sauce aroma as "sauce within strong aroma" β€” more exuberant than Moutai's reserved depth. Qinghualang is elegant and mellow, with a long finish, long regarded as the sensible choice of the premium sauce-aroma tier.

2. Born, raised, nurtured, hidden: the estate's law of time

Langjiu's quality philosophy is four characters: sheng, zhang, yang, cang β€” born by the Chishui River, raised on Tianbao Peak, nurtured in the jar house, hidden in Tianbao Cave. From grain to bottle takes at least five years.

The final act is the most legendary: Tianbao and Dibao Caves are among the world's great natural ageing caverns, with constant temperature and humidity, where tens of thousands of earthen jars age in the dark. It is in these caves that Qinghualang sheds its sharp edges and gains the distinctive "cave-aged" character no artificial environment can copy.

3. On the porcelain: a stroke of Eastern blue

Qinghualang's bottle is a statement of Eastern aesthetics in its own right: refined blue-and-white porcelain, dignified on any table. And around the world, "qinghua" is almost synonymous with Chinese porcelain β€” so this bottle carries not just liquor, but a名片 of Chinese taste.

That is why Qinghualang appears so often at gifting moments: it is handsome, timeless, culturally weighty β€” the receiver instantly reads the giver's discernment.
