Mianzhu sits in the northwest of the Sichuan Basin. It has no great river's clamor, yet over more than a thousand years it has brewed itself into a city — rising on wine, and famed for wine.
I. A Land, and the Wine It Raises
Mianzhu lies at 31°09′–31°42′ N, 103°54′–104°20′ E — one of Sichuan's four great production regions (Yibin, Luzhou, Mianzhu and Qionglai), and a core region of the province's "U-belt" of famed wines.
It is known as a "Famed Wine City of China" and a "World-Class Specialty Wine Region" — one title domestic, one international, both saying the same thing: Mianzhu is soil born to brew.
II. A Thousand-Year Lineage: From "Jiannan Shaochun" to Jiannanchun
Mianzhu's brewing history reaches back to the Tang Dynasty, when its wine — named "Jiannan Shaochun" — was recorded in the official history as a wine of the imperial court. It is the historical root of the name "Jiannanchun" itself.

III. A City of Famed Wines
Today's Mianzhu is home to more than Jiannanchun. Famed wines flourish here, each with its own strength:

IV. The Terroir Code: Water, Grain, Cellar
Mianzhu's great wines rest on three pillars:
- Water — the Sanjianshui sacred springs, strontium-rich, low-deuterium, weakly alkaline glacier water: the "first ingredient" of brewing;
- Grain — along the Sheshui River, five grains — sorghum, rice, glutinous rice, wheat and corn — grow full and fine;
- Cellar — microbial communities enriched in century-old cellars are time's "living assets" to Mianzhu, more precious with age.
Fine water, fine grain, fine cellars — plus the climate of the 30th parallel north. Mianzhu's terroir seems tailor-made for baijiu.
V. Heritage and Innovation: Old Craft, New Era
Mianzhu carries forward traditional intangible-heritage brewing techniques while embracing modern intelligent brewing equipment. The ancient craft has not retired to a museum — it walks side by side with today's technology.
Perhaps that is Mianzhu's most moving quality: it can hold a thousand years of tradition, and still welcome the new.
